Bedfords Park is too small for the traditional single map score
course - so I tried to offer two maps of roughly equal opportunity to score
points. Most of you started with the Part A map - perhaps just a natural
decision rater than a judgment of difficulty.
There was work carried out late on - cutting the thick grass - which made the
paths in the area of Foxes Hill less distinct so I provided a few marker canes
to help. Also new paths have been created in one area and there was no time to
re-map it so I kept the courses out of it.
Even regular visitors to events in the park will probably have found at least
one new control site - score courses allow planners to get away with dog-leg
controls which would otherwise be frowned upon.
I would have liked to add in one or two more controls but the limitations of the
SI "dibber" prevented it.
I was interested to see that so many chose to head off downhill to the nearest
control - 122 first - I did think more might have gone for 123 which was near
the same level as the start .
I must apologise for somehow pocketing a hired "dibber" and then
trying to find it - I am truely sorry for any distress caused.
Finally thanks to Janet for controlling and printing the maps and to the usual
team of HAVOC's who made yet another event happen.
