Thirteen HAVOC members ran at this year's CompassSport Cup qualifying round at Ashridge. The car park was in a splendid setting with the castle-like Ashridge House as the back-drop with its colourful spring flower borders. Unfortuantely the weather did not match the surroundings: steady light rain for most of the runners.
Congratulations go to Garry Parmenter for winning the Veterans Short Green in the Trophy Competition and scoring the maximum of 100 points for the club. Other notable perfomances were from Andrew Welsh (96 points), Mike Muggeridge (95) and Paul Beckett (91). A special mention must go to Kerry Enderby who despite having competed in only a few events took on the 4.9K Green Women's course and scored a very commendable 79 points for HAVOC.
Unfortunately although we were in the Trophy competition, HAVOC was up against some much larger clubs and we came 8th out of 9. Unlike all the clubs above us, we had no juniors competing this year.
This year's round of the CompassSport Cup and Trophy will be held at the Happy Herts (HH) event at Ashridge, near Berkhampsted on Sunday 12 March.
HAVOC will be in the Trophy competition for smaller clubs. We will be up against SMOC, DFOK, LOK, SAX, MV, SUFFOC, SOS and CHIG. The larger clubs competing in the Cup competition at the event are WAOC, SO, SLOW and HH themselves.
Final details for the event are on the HH website. Any HAVOC member who would like a late entry should contact our Club Captain, Paul Beckett ( or tel 01277 213758) to see if any entries are available.
